In February, the Sunshine Coast was recognised by the global Intelligent Community Forum (ICF) as one of the Top 7 Intelligent Communities of 2019. OCB is a very proud contributor to this success. This achievement is set against the backdrop of hundreds of entries. These entries are from around the world, including Canada, Taiwan and the United States of America. Notably, the coast was the only awardee in Australia.
Co-Founder of the Intelligent Community Forum (ICF) is Mr John Jung. Mr Jung visited the Sunshine Coast last week as part of the judging process for the 2019 Intelligent Community of the Year. Taking in The Sunshine Coast Health precinct, the submarine cable landing station, amongst other significant developments on the coast, Mr Jung said the Sunshine Coast was a worthy contender for the top prize, which will be announced in New York on June 13. He also said being named in the Top 7 already was a significant achievement which would have flow-on benefits for years to come.
In addition to Mr Jung, Mayor Mark Jamieson said the Intelligent Community award recognises communities that are doing the best job of using technology to –
- increase efficiencies
- expand opportunities
- build inclusive prosperity
- tackle social and governance challenges and
- enrich the quality of life of its residents.
At OCB, we will continue to support the council in its efforts to achieve the number 1 spot. We are very proud to be involved in such an exciting, not to mention beautiful, region. Find out if your home or business is in our coverage area for super fast broadband here.
