Building the newest broadband network on the Sunshine Coast is a challenging prospect, but one which has already proven to be rewarding as we connect families who have not previously had internet access in their homes.
With the main part of our network infrastructure already operational, new community distribution points can easily be added to service customers in a radius of several kilometres around that point.
Our process of selecting the next community to be added to our network is made up of several factors
- The level of demand – A minimum of 20 homes/businesses that are prepared to sign up to a pre-contract for our service.
- The potential in the area – communities with a larger number of households and businesses which currently suffer from poor internet provision will be prioritised.
- Availability of an appropriate site for the Community Distribution Point – we need to build a low impact mast in an elevated position to service the surrounding area.
How community members can help to accelerate the process
Raising awareness and interest in the service to members of your community, and encouraging them to sign up to a pre-contract will accelerate and prioritise the enablement of your community.
After we have conducted a preliminary topographical survey of the area to ensure that we can provide a service, community members can help us to raise awareness and interest the following ways – in order to gain a commitment of over 20 pre-contracted households.
- Like us on Facebook and share with your friends & neighbours
- We have stock of “Register Now” postcards available – if you have the time to distribute them in your neighbourhood, just call us on (07) 5322 5380 or email info@ourcommunitybroadband.com.au to arrange for some to be sent to you.
- We have posters to raise awareness of our service, if you have access to a business or noticeboard where these would be suitable, please contact us to arrange for some to be sent to you.
- Don’t forget that we hold a strong commitment to community sponsorship – where a percentage of our profits will be donated every year to community groups. If you are involved in a community group – find out how they could help spread the message as they have the possibility of becoming one of the beneficiaries of a successful service.
Everyone who signs up with us will receive a monthly newsletter and any other one off communications relevant to their community to keep them up to date with our progress.
If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us directly.
