Enabling the Internet of Things (IoT)
PWC’s research provides valuable insight into the next phase of human-machine collaboration. The advent of IoT and big data makes all these advances possible. Importantly however, only if you have the key enabler; fast internet which is reliable at your home and work.
OCB’s vision will enable the IoT
OCB was conceived to provide this quality, fast internet, because we recognised the shortfall that the national network would deliver. This is particularly relevant in a non-metro area, such as the Sunshine Coast. As a country, Australia can’t afford to forecast small increases in the demand for data and bandwidth, as people’s interest in streaming entertainment increases. The global economy is embracing the human-machine collaboration and the efficiencies and enhancements it will provide can’t be ignored. Big data and the IoT will either enable us to keep pace if we embrace it, or relegate us as an economy if we ignore it.
The benefits of outstanding connectivity
- Security systems integrated with big data will help predict breaches.
- The healthcare profession will offer immediate and personalised care, through connected wearable devices.
- Aged care services will embrace technology and e-health to care for our aging population.
- Smart home systems will optimise energy usage, and improve our carbon footprint.
- Building management systems will optimise user experience and total cost.
All these things need fast internet that is reliable. But without these things we will not have the resources to care for the aged, improve energy efficiency, reduce our carbon footprint, maintain a sustainable cost of living or feel secure in our homes.
None of this is factored into the current national strategy for connectivity.
Here at Our Community Broadband, we think it should be. Our network is built to cope with increasing demand for bandwidth. Find out if our service is available at your address, and join our Sunshine Coast customers, who are enjoying the benefits of fast internet.
